Finally Many thanks for your suggestions. Mon, How do you rate this content? No votes yet. Very original project, thanks for sharing it. As I download the file I have a question. BTW, I've set it so that mousing over the link will give you the author, votes, and score -- I figure this would be a way to browse the RoloVault content.

Then, I could also make a single page with all the modules, which we would try to update with their current migration status. Alternatively, someone with more permissions than me could do this, and include PHP snippets that would automatically check migration status on page load. I've made two lists, one as a single article here link and the other as a series of articles, one for each letter of the alphabet here link.

Don't worry, each one has links to all the others. The lists have an http link that goes to the index. That's the old vault page for the module. Hovering over this link should get you a tooltip with the author, votes, and score for the module. Let me know if you find anything broken. I checked all the links before posting these, but I may have inadvertently bollixed something.

There's actually a problem with this in that myself, who is just a regular user around here, and not a moderator nor an admin nor anyone else with any sort of special permissions -- cannot actually download anything from these pages.

I'd still have to go to rolovault directly and dig through the ftp folders or search the site to see if a project was migrated if I wanted to download something. I'm really excited about this--at least until we get the vault transferred, this is the best master index of vault modules that we have for NWN1! It should be really helpful, especially when searching for migration requests.

I'm not sure if we'll ever get all of those modules uploaded to the vault proper though I wouldn't put it past the migration guys , so having a list like this ensures that all of those modules will be accessible to anyone. Now we just need to get the top file rankings working on the vault proper.

But man, things feel alive again! Sachie, if you click on the ftp link next to the module's name it takes you directly to the FTP server. Nice, right? Thanks, but it was no effort. The metadata was "all there" on the RoloVault in the form of some largish XML files above each category folder.

I just imported the module metadata into a database, and exported from there to create the indices. As far as migration progress -- at the rate Proleric and Turkeys are going, they'll be done with the lot by the end of the month. There are only six thousand or so modules after all. I might even be able to speed that up -- I've been thinking about writing a little Javascript app that would prefill the new project form if you give it the old vault id.

Unfortunately, I lack permissions to include working scripts in content, so I'd need admin help, or I'd have to put it up on my own website, which would probably run afoul of cros-site scripting restrictions as it should. My preference would be - prefill old and new category as "module s ", open "advanced download" for screenshots, open "summary", set description to "full html", default sou and hotu required. I can see it's theoretically possible to use the old vault id as a key to pre-populate the above form, but I hestitate to use VB, as there's a lot of complexity and to me new ground.

Maybe this script could do the trick? Most of what I'm doing is mechanical old vault id, screenshots, description, uploads , bar a final check for required and related projects which can be implicit in the descrription, e.

Regarding the alphabetical list of modules, the only problem is that the ftp link is old news for those which have migrated, especially those which have been updated by the current author. Can we redirect the ftp link to the new page, using the old vault id?

Does anyone mind if I manually change the ftp links for my personal stuff? Actually, I'd planned on doing something a bit more comprehensive. I've got all of the module metadata in a SQL database. I was planning on having the script query that and use the results to prepopulate the form.

This would include all of the data that you're currently cutting and pasting into the description field, as well as author, title, old vault id and maybe even preloading the module files. Of course, in some ways, this is actually harder to do than simply writing a database or php script for the same purpose.

It's always nice to have real people error-checking the entries, but a script to automatically migrate the RoloVault is no more than a one-night job, and would execute in a few minutes at most if we symlinked the RoloVault into the Drupal files directory.

BTW, the manual migration process has been awfully successful of late. In total, there are over 1, modules that have been migrated since April of More than of those have been migrated since the start of July That's right -- in the last six weeks, we've migrated nine times as many modules as were done in the previous 15 months.

Not too shabby. Hats off to Proleric, Turkeys, Carcerian, et al. I don't mind at all if you'd like to edit your entries -- I only wish everyone could.

I'd do the job myself, but there are over a thousand modules migrated, with more being done every day, and I've no way to track them. Ming View Profile View Posts.
